On 27th September at MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan, it took place ‘Data Sonification/Beyond the visuals’ event. Hundreds of people followed the event, both in presence and online.
In a world constantly in evolution, we've already understood that data can visually talk so now we're exploring Data Sonification, one of the new frontiers of Data Visualization.
The event was conceived, curated and conducted by our partner Paolo Ciuccarelli (Founding Director, Center for Design) and Sara Lenzi (Critical Alarms Lab, TU Delft).
Many renowned speakers have been there and made a significant contribution to the event: Anita Zanella (National Institute of Astrophysics), the sound artist Rafael Bresciani, Dan Lockton (Department of Industrial Design, Eindhoven University of Technology), Michele Mauri (DensityDesign Research Lab, Politecnico di Milano), Miriam Quick + Duncan Geere from Loudnumbers.net and the live performance of Chelidon Frame.
Afterwards, guests have been invited to a room dedicated to immersive experiences. Thanks to MEET Digital Culture Center staff collaboration that provided VR viewers, we launched ‘Idioms’, The Visual Agency’s first VR installation that blended immersive data visualization and audio spatialization. ‘Idioms’ is an immersive environment that recreates the auditory experience of being in a virtual space with people speaking the eight most spoken languages in Europe.
