Paolo Ciuccarelli, professor of Design at Northeastern University and Politecnico di Milano, as well as The Visual Agency long time partner, shares some thoughts on this year’s 18th International Architecture Exhibition curated by Lesley Lokko. The event, held within the beautiful setting of La Biennale in Venice, is  titled “The Laboratory of the Future” and according to professor Ciuccarelli, it confirms “a shift from architecture being a (local) product to architecture becoming a (global) process.”

In the article, he delves into how The Biennale becomes more captivating with each edition for those interested in data visualization and information design. Providing an overview of several projects and installations on display, professor Ciuccarelli addresses several cutting-edge themes related to the relationship between data and architecture. These include the overproduction of data, data biases, the establishment of data, or data as an establishment (Datament), and data sonification. Read the complete article to gain insights into his personal perspective on a selection of innovative theories and practices at the intersection of data and architecture.
